My special thanks goes to Mr. J.P.A. Wortelboer and Els
Wortelboer. Mr. J.P.A. Wortelboer,
a civil
law notary at Bedum (NL), has
done a great job by researching all of the Wortelboer roots
(without computers, internet etc.!). In 1975, he published
his results in his book "Wortelboer, a family from
the Dutch peat district". This book, (including most of the Wortelboer
Genealogy information until 1975) has been the starting source for this
website (started in 1999). New information has been added since
thanks to all who has send us the updates and corrections. Since April 2000, Els Wortelboer-Dekker
has been inspired to pick up the research work to gather new and updated genealogy data
from the Wortelboers. By publishing this data on internet, even more
people are now willing to help her to update the Wortelboer Genealogy Database. Special thanks will also go to Wil Wortelboer who has lived in Canada for 38 years (1951-1989) and translated the details to English of each person in the database.

Added hereto a print of the Coat of Arms of the Wortelboer-Family
as it was deposited and registered by the Central Office for Genealogy. It was
drawn by Karel van den Sigtenhorst, possibly to add luster to this family-tree.
Mr. van den Sigtenhorst was known to draw Coats of Arms for this Registry
office, as he was well known for this work. He has not been working as such for
many years.
It
symbolizes the tradition of shipbuilding and shipping, in the form
of the blue wave. It also reminds of the small river 'de
Pekel A' where our ancestors settled down. The three clover leaves represent the
land and farms, cultivated by the first Wortelboer Family.
