| Hendricus Wortelboer (12 april
1803 - 28 May 1858) was a blacksmith and owned a Nailfactory in
'Oude Pekela'. (Forged iron nails) Story will have it that Hendricus
made a delivery of nails and such, to the 'Hartelust Company' in
Leeuwarden.
After Hendricus had settled the bill in the Leeuwarden-office he
came home, recounted the money and discovered he was paid 100
guilders (€ 45,-) too much. When he checked with the Hartelust
office if they had not made an error, the answer he got back was:
"If you received too little, we are sorry. When you did get too
much, you can keep it". Hendricus answered back: "Well in that case
I thank you very much, because you did overpay me with 100
guilders".
